Citroen India is all set to unveil the Made In India subcompact SUV, codenamed CC21, in the country tomorrow, on September 16, 2021. It will be the second product from the French carmaker in India and is expected to be launched during this festive season. The new Citroen CC21 SUV will be based on the company’s heavily localised Common Modular Platform (CMP) that has been specially developed for emerging markets like India and Brazil. In fact, it is part of the company’s C-Cubed programme, under which Citroen India plans to launch four new products in India by 2023. Here’s all you can expect from the new Citroen CC21 SUV.
Design and Styling
As of now, Citroen has revealed no details about the upcoming SUV’s design and styling however, it’s expected to be heavily influenced by the C3 Aircross in terms of visual cues. Even in the spy photos, we have seen so far, the SUV comes with that distinctive split headlamp setup with a swept-back design along with the side air dam. Even the dimensions look almost identical and the curved design language is inevitable. A recently released teaser suggests the subcompact SUV will sport a signature chrome grille, and split headlamp setup. The SUV will also get a sculpted bonnet, sleek ORVMs, squarish-wheel arches, underbody cladding, LED taillamps, bumper cladding, alloy wheels and more.
Interior and features
Nothing about the new CC21 SUV’s cabin has been revealed so far we have not even got a glimpse of the interior in the leaked spy photos of the car. Having said that, judging by the company design language and the globally sold C3 Aircross, we know the new SUV too will come with a well-laid-out cabin with premium fit a finish. It is also likely to get a dual-tone interior with premium fabric upholstery and a minimalist dashboard. In terms of features, we expect to see a flat-bottom steering wheel, a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a reverse parking camera and a range of active and passive safety features.
Engine & Transmission
Under the hood, the new Citroen C3-based SUV for India is expected to share its powertrains with the globally sold C3. So, the petrol version will come with the 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged unit and the diesel will get the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged oil burner.
Price and Competition
While we do not expect the company to announce the price of the SUV at the unveiling event, upon its launch, the CC21 is likely to be priced around ₹ 7 lakh to ₹ 12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In India the new SUV will rival the likes of the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
